How To Raise Support or Funds for Short Term Missions

Here is a great list of ideas on raising your missions trip support: Raise Support

There are many different ways to fundraise, but for a operation such as the one you are about to embark upon there are set plans, such as the one below, which will make your goal easier to reach. Fundraisers can be done by individuals, small businesses or whole communities. Look at sites like Go Fundraise, Mycause, or maybe Crazy Fundraisers, which allows you to raise money online for your charity. Knowing how to fundraise properly is all about thinking outside the box. Finding the right person (someone with the gift of the gab, who knows how to fundraise) for this role can really help your evening along and bring in extra cash. Fundraising Say the word "Fundraising" and many people shy away, but in reality fundraising is no more than a common sense approach to getting in front of people who WANT to help a good cause and asking them for a donation or to participate in a fundraising event.

Fortunately, fundraising for a mission trip is not as challenging as you might think. Whether you're raising money for victims suffering in a humanitarian disaster, or fundraising for your short term missions trip there are a million ways to earn money and reach your goal. By making a timeline it sets a date certain and helps keep the fundraising on-track. Log onto the internet, type in "fundraising items", or you can type in "wholesale candles", or "wholesale picture frames", depending on what it is that you want to sell. Use the Internet to help with your fundraising efforts. Consider including an online component to your fundraising efforts. Most importantly, remember to be creative and to have fun while fundraising. In any fundraising activity, clearly state your vision and why people should join you in this cause. The main thing to remember is that when it comes to fundraising there are no rules. Be creative in your approach to fundraising; think of ways to make people part with their money and get something out of it at the same time.

Online fundraising is the wave of the future. Online fundraising is the easiest way for you to make a difference from the comfort of your home. Online donations are automatically credited toward your pledge. You can set up a PayPal link on your website to make it easier for people to donate online. Email your profile to your friends and family and ask them to sponsor you through your secure online page using a credit card. Typically you can find potential funding organizations/foundations in the following ways: Searching online and on internet funders databases may provide you with many great ideas to raise your support.

Your first step should be to write letters asking for support. You might be surprised to learn how excited people will be to be a small part of supporting your mission support if you just ask. Ask for financial as well as prayer support. You might even find a local business that is willing to lend their parking lot and the water hoses to help support your car wash. People love to learn about the missions they are going to financially support. Be sure to include a copy of this projects status with any letters you send to your donor and supporters. The best way to start collecting money for your trip would be to write a letter to all the businesses and organizations in your area asking of them financial support. As you knock on doors, you'll meet people who, whether they give you funds or not, can offer you some support. Look first for a list of previous donors to this or similar causes. Always see donors as partners or collaborators in your project, not only as money providers. Copy the sponsorship form and hand out to potential donors to complete.

Write down the address of donors and drop them a brochure and thank you note when your fundraising goal has been accomplished. Target your donors instead of using a 'blanket' coverage. Once you have donors, the best thing is to keep them. It is easier and cheaper to retain donors and even upgrade them gradually to larger donations than to find and cultivate new ones. Your best donors are those who have given recently, give consistently and give generously. They are also your best ambassadors to assist in soliciting other donors. The majority of donors resent the use of guilt tactics and are much more likely to give if you focus on matters that touch the heart. Here’s an easy tip to help connect with your donors – tell them how their donation is going to be used. Whatever you decide to do, the key is showing your donors that you are passionate about what you are doing and you are willing to do whatever it takes to raise money for your cause.

Like everything else, everyone can, largely, learn to fundraise. Fundraising is an art and takes a lot of time. Fundraising and training is always easier when it is a group effort.

A good idea is to ask people at churches, family and friends for items they would like to donate. Then list them on Ebay or Craigslist for sale.
